Fit for purpose

A purpose-built best-practice biomed workshop in Kuala Lumpur, 2008.

This is what it looks like when it’s well-funded and done intentionally. This workshop was designed to support a campus of hospital buildings containing 1000+ beds. Clinical support was divided into two teams, who used vehicles to transport equipment to-and-from the hospital beds. This required dedicated vehicles and drivers and negotiation with traffic and weather.

Biomeds whose daily city work is done in hospital basements with lift-access: now imagine carrying an electrical-safety-analyser with one hand while riding on the back of a scooter to get to the main hospital building. There is a reality that no-matter how good your workshop is, if your work is remote, you will need to learn how to transport tools, equipment and personnel to each site. It is a totally different game.
